✚ Hidden along a stream-lined track, it may be small and only have some seven to eight services a year, but what both the church and community lack in size they make up for in love and creativity. The services are different from the norm and all are special. Some based on festivals such as Epiphany and Advent and other more modern – pet service and music and meditation. Everyone is welcome and seasonal refreshments are always served afterwards.
✚ The Tolland Community Group was set up to raise funds for the church and organises major events such as the Coronation celebration and a regular Midsummer barbecue (see the Tolland Facebook page for more) The Wolcott Society in America has a Friends of Tolland Church who also help support building and churchyard where their ancestors are buried.
✚ Being a rural church there is a strong emphasis on the environment and its protection. The flower-rich churchyard has been managed for wildlife for the past 40 years and the Rogation and Harvest thanksgiving services are particularly important to us.
✚ Benches in the churchyard provide a well-deserved rest for those on the Brendon Tower Way (LINK 4) or for simply enjoying the tranquility or bird song. Others come afar to ring the bells, said to be the lightest church ring of eight in the country. Bath and Wells DACR .
