On the weekend of 6-8th July a group of 18 young people and 5 leaders travelled to Shobrooke Park near Credition for Spree. The group consisted of people from all 3 churches in Wiveliscombe, and some from further afield with Wivey connections.
Spree is a Christian camping weekend run by South west youth Ministries and Urban Saints. Its a great mix of spiritual programmes for different ages and stages, and fun activities to suit pretty much everyone including music, outdoor activities, sport and fun, and craft. This can be seen by the variety of comments from the group who went this year……
“My favourite bit was the climbing wall, it was really high!”
“I really enjoyed the music, the worship: school of rock, and playing my guitar. “
“The football was really fun.”
“I enjoyed doing the canvas pictures.”
“Spree is really fun, I liked the digi-wall the best. There are lots of holds which light up, with sensors and you can play lots of different games on it.
“The spiritual programme for Christians was pretty deep with moving testimonies.”(leader)
“The 11-15s ‘explore’ group looked at journeys, taking risks (illustrated with a raw egg catching game!) and the risks of following Jesus.
Other mid teens commented on how it had really helped their relationships with other people.
Next year Spree is moving to Westpoint at the end of June, as it is growing and needs more space. We look forward to joining them!
