Children and Young People

Children and Young People

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 19:14

One of the most exciting things to happen is that we have a new meeting space in St. Andrews! One of the south bays in the church has been transformed and it allows our creche or children’s groups to meet in a space of their own behind a glass screen whilst still being a part of the service, worship and fellowship that takes place!

We have a vibrant and growing children’s and youth ministry taking place through St. Andrews in particular with a number of groups now meeting across the week. Children are welcome to all of our services across the benefice.

Messy Church

Messy Church events run regularly throughout the year. Messy Church meets monthly on Wednesdays at St Andrews and holds breakfast events and other special events throughout the year. For more please see the Messy Church Facebook page.

Rock

Rock group is for upper primary and younger secondary school children. We meet weekly for a range of fun activities within St Andrews and the local community.

Youth Group

Our youth group meets regularly at St Andrews to discuss issues that are relevant to our older young people and explores the biblical understanding of these. We also have occasional socials and celebration events.

Creche

We have our creche area at the side of the church in the new meeting room space, which is always open for use during any service. There are also activity packs with topical colouring and activity sheets plus other activities. These also include children’s service books that guide them through the service with pictures and explanations of what is happening.

Sunday Schools in The Hills

Huish Champflower Sunday School

Sunday school for the Hills parishes is held at St Peter’s Huish Champflower on the first Sunday of every month at 10:30 (before the family service at 11:15). Stories, colouring and crafts in a happy and informal atmosphere. Children of all ages are warmly welcome; parents too if they like.

Other Youth and Children’s Activities

There are a number of other activities for young people that are run on an occasional basis. Fire church, Messy church (monthly), holiday clubs, trips to Spring Harvest and picnics.

We also take a group to SPREE in Devon each year.
